It has been way, *way* too long since I have posted any surf, hot rod rock, or instrumental garage rock. Back to 1958, "Rumble", which influenced everyone from the Who to Iggy Pop, Jimmy Page, and Bob Dylan.

Misirlou is my go-to tune when trying to have a music discussion on the topic of unusual modes. I got hugely into surf a few years back and don't know that I've ever returned from it, though I've been very remiss in polluting Oppo with it like I did for a while.
Here's a more recent surf band I found through Pandora back in the day - they never got very big and their guitarist died, but they've got the classic middle ground between the Ventures and Johnny Rivers/Lalo Schiffrin soundtrack-type stuff absolutely nailed:
